It is the raw material for smelting and producing vanadium alloy and metal vanadium. Most of the hot metal containing vanadium is smelted by blast furnace and also produced by electric furnace. The main methods of producing vanadium slag with vanadium bearing hot metal include oxygen top blown converter, shaking ladle and atomization.
According to the different content of V2O5, the vanadium slag is divided into six grades according to the Chinese national standard, they are vanadium slag 11 (v20510. O% - 12. O%), vanadium slag 13 (v20512. O% - 14. O%), vanadium slag 15 (v20514. O% - 16. O%), vanadium slag 17 (v20516. O% - 18. O%), vanadium slag 19 (v20518. O% - 20. O%) and vanadium slag 21 (V205 > 20. O%); the contents of P, Cao, SiO2 and Fe in vanadium slag are restricted 。 The content of V2O5; and other components in vanadium slag is determined by the composition of hot metal. The silicon content and vanadium content in hot metal are the primary factors that directly affect the quality of vanadium slag: when the silicon content is high and the vanadium content is low, the content of SiO2 and V2O5 in the vanadium slag is high; otherwise, the content of SiO2 is low and the content of V2O5 is high, that is, there is a negative correlation between SiO2 and V2O5 in vanadium slag. Therefore, in order to ensure the grade of vanadium slag, the upper limit of silicon content in vanadium bearing hot metal is strictly limited.
